Thanks to the generous support of Oakland Hills Country Club, Pine Lake Country Club, and Red Run Golf Club, Girls Matter, DBA Kids Empowered on the Move (KEOTM), received grant funding to continue its vital mission of supporting children facing poverty and homelessness.
With this support, KEOTM provided emergency hotel shelter, furnished homes for families moving out of homelessness, and made the holidays brighter through programs like Adopt a Family for Christmas. Nearly 200 families experienced the joy of Christmas thanks to these efforts, with KEOTM’s unique model encouraging community youth to participate by giving back themselves.
KEOTM serves approximately 500 families annually through a range of programs, including:
- Adopt a Family for Christmas and Easter
- Emergency food, clothing, furniture, and household items
- Book events for children and distribution of school uniforms
Their impact is wide-reaching. Over 100 homeless families have received services such as:
- More than 3,000 nights of emergency hotel shelter
- Assistance with deposits and first month’s rent for around 30 families
- Delivery and setup of furniture for over 25 families
- Emergency food and clothing for 100 families
- Transportation for children staying in hotels so they can attend school
KEOTM also delivered Christmas trees and decorations to 25 families, and for the third consecutive year, distributed 100 stockings to families not on the Adopt a Family list.
Each month, volunteers deliver groceries to homeless families in hotels, totaling approximately 400 deliveries monthly. Furniture is delivered to around 120 families a year, either sourced by KEOTM or moved from storage into new housing.
Additional services include book distributions to approximately 100 children and dental care for over 50 children and parents who lack access to regular dental services.
Eagles for Children is proud to support KEOTM and the powerful difference they make in the lives of children and families in crisis.
