Aspire Higher Opens Doors to College, Career, and Personal Growth for Young People

Thanks to the support of Eagles for Children, the Aspire Higher program is providing young people with opportunities to explore college campuses, experience new environments, meet inspiring mentors, and see possibilities for their future.

A key part of the Aspire Higher experience is exposing participants to opportunities they may not otherwise have the chance to experience. Through campus visits, special events, and connections with leaders in the community, students are encouraged to think about their goals and the opportunities available to them.

Recently, Aspire Higher participants visited Michigan State University for a full campus tour and a behind-the-scenes look at the Evans Scholarship House. The experience gave students an opportunity to explore college life firsthand and envision themselves pursuing higher education.

One of the highlights of the visit was a behind-the-scenes tour of the Breslin Center and its basketball facilities. The students also received a special surprise when they had the opportunity to hear from Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo.

Coach Izzo spoke with the students about the importance of work ethic and striving for the opportunities that are in front of them—messages that reflect the broader goals of Aspire Higher and its focus on helping young people recognize their own potential.

For participants like Harmonie Erving-Spenser, a member of the Country Club of Detroit community, these experiences provide more than a day on a college campus. They offer the chance to ask questions, meet new people, explore unfamiliar environments, and begin thinking about what their own future could look like.

Aspire Higher also creates opportunities for participants to experience the broader world of golf and the career and educational possibilities connected to it. Upcoming activities include a visit to the Rocket Classic, giving students another opportunity to experience a major professional sporting event and learn more about the industry from a different perspective.

By combining exposure to higher education, mentorship, golf, sports, and real-world experiences, Aspire Higher encourages young people to look beyond what they know today and consider the opportunities that may be available to them tomorrow.
