Friends Like Me

A 2013 Eagles-recipient located in midtown Detroit, the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute is the only hospital in Michigan solely “dedicated to the prevention, early detection, treatment and eventual eradication of cancer.” Although nationally-recognized and highly-revolutionary, not all of its work takes place in white lab coats; Karmanos also supports therapy programs and more holistic types of medicine, such as the Friends Like Me program.

Bright Pasts, Brighter Futures

Published by Julianne Fava

As the 2014 golf season commences, we would like to share with you two terrific success stories from organizations who received grants from Eagles during 2013 and truly made a difference in the lives of the children they serve.  The first comes from Ropard Foundation who used funds received from Eagles to purchase a new, much needed, specialized “Perkins Smart Brailler” which will provide the opportunity for visually impaired children to develop the skills to read and learn.   We also received word from the Cooke School that with the grant award received from Eagles, they were able to purchase a “Rifton Walker,” a specialized walker designed specifically for children with cerebral palsy who could not otherwise utilize a conventional walker.   The Ropard Foundation and Cooke School are just two of the twenty-nine 2013 Eagles recipients and we are delighted to play a role in helping each of them provide the much needed support and service to the less fortunate children in our community.       If you are a charity that received an Eagles grant and have a story, please let us know.    To our participating clubs around the Detroit area, here’s to a great 2014 golf season and Eagles campaign.   The weather is now cooperating and as you know, every eagle does make a difference.   Our goal for 2014 is to continuing to deliver smiles all around the metro-Detroit area so good luck and good golf!            2014-02-07 08.31.15    2014-02-07 08.32.12   Eagles For Children walker

Year Update

Published by Julianne Fava

As the year comes to a close, Eagles for Children is proud to announce that our five participating clubs raised a total of $138,000 for the kids during the 2013 golf season .  The support and heartfelt generosity of the members and volunteers at each of the clubs in the Eagles family is nothing short of remarkable, with funds raised more than triple in just our second year in existence.     To celebrate the accomplishment and complete our mission for the year, on Wednesday, November 20th at Oakland Hills Country Club, 22 deserving local children’s charities will be presented with grant awards so they may continue their important work to improve the lives of children all over Southeastern Michigan.  Eagles for Children has clearly taken flight and we offer a special thank you to everyone who has supported the charity along the way.   Onward and upward….we are already looking forward to the 2014 golf season!
